Jim Craig played both games that year during the Phinal Phour, but senior
captain Brian Durocher skated the trophy around the ice surface.

I'll never forget the Wisconsin fans that year. They were insane! As
Boston Globe writer Bob Ryan put it, for some reason there are 3000 people
who think that the sole reason why they are placed on this earth is to root
for their Badgers. Every Winsconsin partisan was rooting against the
Terriers in the finals because BU had the audacity of beating them in the
semifinals the night before. After BU won the championship, I was outside
the Civic Center screaming YAY BU, when a 70ish Wisconsin female fan yelled
back at me SCREW BU. I still think they are the most entertaining group of
fans in all of sport.

I also was there in Providence in 1978- where BU won the NCAA. However, the
thing I remember most was the 8,000 Wisconsin fans all dressed in red
chanting "Sieve, Sieve at BU goalie Jim Craig- or was it Brian Durocher?
They filled up half the arena- and they drove 2,000 miles to do it.

Anyway, verrry intimidating. We never saw such passion by any fans ever
before, nor since. The games, unfortunately, have left the memory, but the
Wisconsin fans never will.

After being at numerous Beanpots, ECAC's and BC-BU games (chanting Skidmore-
Skidmore), nothing beat that hockey experience.

Maybe Lake Placid, 1980- but that's another story.
