FWIW the selection committee did a superior job in determining the schedule.
They avoided intraconference matchups as much as possible and followed the
PWR as well as can be imagined. Consider the rankings from USCHO:

Rk Team GP W- L- T Win% Rk RPI Rk PWR
 1 Wisconsin 40 31- 8- 1 0.7875 1 | 0.6095 1 | 25
 2 Maine 38 26- 7- 5 0.7500 4 | 0.6082 2 | 24
 3 North Dakota 39 26- 8- 5 0.7308 5 | 0.5982 3 | 23
 4 St Lawrence 33 24- 7- 2 0.7576 3 | 0.5886 5 | 22
 5 Niagara 27 18- 7- 2 0.7037 8 | 0.5723 8 | 20
 6 New Hampshire 37 23- 8- 6 0.7027 9 | 0.5921 4 | 19
 7 Colgate 33 23- 8- 2 0.7273 6 | 0.5701 9 | 19
 8 Boston College 38 26-11- 1 0.6974 11 | 0.5835 6 | 18

* The top four rankings are the four bye teams. If everything falls
into place among those four, #1 would play #4, and #2 would play #3 in the
semifinals.
* If #8 Boston College wins its first round game, they would play #1
Wisconsin in the quarterfinals.
* If #7 Colgate wins its first round game, they would play #2 Maine in
the quarterfinals.
* If #6 New Hampshire wins its first round game, they would play #3
North Dakota in the quarterfinals.
* All four Hockey East teams are in separate brackets. The earliest
any of them would meet would be in the semifinals. A semifinal matchup
would not be a repeat of any HEA conference game.
* No other intraconference matchup can occur until the championship
game.
