Ok, I don't have a problem (much of one, at least) with the band
discontinuing this tune. The reasons Wright gives are quite valid, and if I
were in his position, I'd probably do the same thing. They DO have to set a
certain example as "representatives of the university" and the band is there
for all of the fans, not just those in sections 8 & 9.

BUT, I do take umbrage to the statements that the phenomenon of the fans
ending the chant with F#$@ em up, F#$@, BC Sucks is a relatively new thing.
I started following Terrier hockey faithfully during the '92-'93 season, the
year before my freshman year at BU. And for as long as I can remember, the
song/chant has been the same.

So, what I'm trying to say is, quit doing the song, give your valid reasons,
but don't try to hide behind the fact that the ensuing chant is a "new"
occurance. The fact is -- it seems to me, at least -- nobody thought
anything of it in the past, and now all of a sudden they get a few
complaints from some sensitive fans, and they need to scramble and cover
their behinds for not having taken action on the situation of their own
accord.

Sorry for the rant, but I needed to get that off my chest.

Thank you.

Go BU!!!
