Princeton used a clutch and grab style to slow the Engineers down, finished their checks along the boards and did a beautiful job of clogging up the passing lanes in center ice to beat the Engineers 4-3 in Troy.
Scott Prekaski started in the nets for RPI for the second night in a row (Joel Laing is out with the flu) and gave up 4 goals (three of which were a direct result of defensive turnovers).

For the second night in a row, an ECAC referee decided to let the players just play. What a pleasure to watch hockey players rather than a referee dictate the outcome of a game.

Princeton scored the lone goal in the 1st period on a goal
by Benoit Morin.

RPI came back to tie just 31 seconds into the 2nd on a goal
by Matt Murley. Four minutes later Princeton took the lead when Brad Parsons scored on the power play (his first of 3 on the night). RPI came back just before the end of the period to tie things up 2-2 on a goal from Doug Shepherd.

Parsons got his 2nd of the night when he scored another powerplay goal at 3:43 of the 3rd. The Tigers seemingly put the game away at 12:26 when Parsons broke in alone on Prekaski (after an RPI defensive turnover at their own blue line) and put Princeton up 4-2. But the Engineers wouldn't
roll over. At 16:10, a penalty was called on Princeton's Josh Roberts. After applying a lot of pressure and getting a faceoff called deep in the Princeton zone, RPI called a timeout at 17:00 and pulled Prekaski for the extra skater.
The strategy worked as Matt Murley scored his second of the night just 5 seconds later pulling the Engineers within 1.
RPI applied an incredible amount of pressure in the last 3 minutes but, between the Princeton goaltender Dave Stathos and
a mass of Princeton defensemen in the slot blocking shots, the Tigers were able to hold on for the win.

Along with victories by St. Lawrence and Colgate, RPI falls back into third place in the ECAC. RPI travels to Colgate and Cornell next weekend, comes home to face Clarkson and St. Lawrence the week after and finished the season on the road at Harvard and Brown the first weekend in March.
