As Jason pointed out, the "super-regionals" would be four games in two
days, but I still think the attendance would be low, since each team
would only play once.  I know fans of bye teams currently attend
four-game regionals in which their team only plays once, but a lot of
them only show up for the second day.
 
Personally, I think the four regionals idea is the way to go (I'd love
to see Lake Placid bid for one of them!), but it's too bad they won't
introduce a "regional consolation game" (given that the national
third-place game got scrapped some time ago) so that fans of all four
teams could see their favorites play twice.
