I think this is utter nonsense and I'll argue with anyone who believes it --
even though many, many people "inside" the game tend to believe it too.  I
think it's a self-fulfilling perception.  There are lots of dirty hits, but
they happen at all levels, college or not.  The dirty stick fouls are so
prevalent in hockey today, at every level, it's an epidemic, but they come
from all players.  In fact, the college players I've seen in the minors tend
to be more respectful.
 
I just want to know when slashing became a form of stickchecking and
backchecking ... it started happening in the mid to late 80s.
