Actually, the package is for the 2000 NC$$ East Regional and the 2001
NC$$ Frozen Four, both of which will be held at the Pepsi Arena in
Albany, NY. The stated deadline to take advantage of the dual ticket
offer (labelled the 'Power Play Ticket Package') was May 1, 1999. Even
so, I would still try calling the Pepsi ticket office at (518) 487-2088
to see if they have extended this attractive promotion.

First of all, nice of you to bring up the finals for the Calder Cup
championship of the American Hockey League. The Providence Bruins (top
farm team for the Boston NHL franchise) polished off their magical
1998-99 season with 5-1 victory over the Rochester Americans at the
Providence Civic Center last night. Bruins won the championship final
series in five games, finished the post-season with a 10-0 mark at home,
and brought the Calder Cup back to Providence for the first time since
the Providence Reds won it 43 years ago.

Making the Calder Cup title all the satisfying was the fact that Steve
King, 1991 Brown star forward who had played with both the Rangers and
Mighty Ducks early in his pro career, decided to give professional
hockey one more go after a long period of recuperation/therapy from dual
shoulder surgery. He joined the P-Bruins for the playoff run and scored
four goals and two assists in the post-season, two of the goals being
game-winners in the final series.

As for the Providence Civic Center capacity -- yes, 11,000+ (The
Providence Journal listed last night's P-Bruins' sellout as 11,909, but
that number may include some standees who were able to squeeze past the
fire marshal) is quite small for the NC$$ Frozen Four which has now
grown to such popularity as to require at least 16-17,000 seats to
accomodate probable ticket demand. Three years ago, when the NC$$
awarded the 2000 tourney to Providence, there were no more surprised
people than the Rhode Island college hockey fans who could not believe
their good fortune in having the tournament return to Providence after
the Bradley Center, Fleet Center and Arrowhead Pond had upped the
seating ante for prospective bidders. Providence College must have put
on an awesome presentation for the NC$$ folks.
