BTW my 14 year old son wears a JOFA and my 12 yr old goalie son wears a
JOFA (+ cage).  I agree that both have excellent head & ear protection.
When I  reffed, though, I did not like them because I could not hear the
coach when he was talking to me (but then again... :) )

PS, the issue is not the helmet in the NCAA bu the facemask.  See my
earlier post to Adam W and the list on it.  Something has to be done to
teach players (at the youngest age possible) to leave the head alone.
However, too often we neglect this until somebody gets hurt.
