I'm not from the east, so I'm not in the thick of any of the rivalries that
abound in the east(Maine/NH....Maine/Boston...etc.), so my point of view
may be somewhat skewed.  I can see where rivalries would lead some people
to despise Maine(or another school), but from a competitive standpoint,
doesn't it mean more to the rivalry since Maine has once again become an
elite program?  Isn't that what athletic programs are all about?  Going out
and proving yourself against the best competition available.  From an
athlete's standpoint, it has to mean more to beat Maine now, than it did
while they were under sanctions.  I for one applaud the fact that they are
back.  They've paid their dues, and now are back to provide a test to the
rest of the top level teams.  That is what college athletics are about.
