How do college hockey fans feel about "campaign-style" commericals to
promote players who might be considered for the Hobey Baker?

I've been privleged to be able to watch all three Fox Sports New
England games of the week and for the last two weeks FSNE has featured
a commercial (which has only played once each game from what I can
tell) which promotes New Hampshire forward Jason Krog's
accomplishments. The commercial details Krog's on-ice and off-ice
accomplishments and then at the very end features Krog skating toward
the camera, as "Hobey Baker Candidate" is printed on the screen.

If someone knows for sure the motivation for this commercial (i.e.
someone at UNH had to fund this), I'd be real interested in hearing
more about it. Maybe this wasn't the intended message, but I can't
think of another one. The commercial focuses all on Krog as the
individual, not UNH as a program or a school. Krog certainly has some
impressive accomplishments on and off the ice. Call me a purist, but I
for one hope that schools do not follow this lead and start flooding
college hockey broadcasts with more self-promotional material.
