Whats all this fuss about old Faculty Athletic Representatives???
 
Are we going to start discriminating against faculty based on age now.  Old
fars are better than young fars because the old fars have been in higher
education longer and have usually gleaned some notion of respect from their
colleagues.  Also, their academic careers have earned them at least face
validity from their administration.  They also can provide an image of a
mentor or a parent figure.  They know their ways around financial aid and
since they (usually) have lifetime contracts, they can do what's right
without fear of reprisal.
