>> Is there any other coach in college hockey under as much pressure to win
as Doug Woog?

Well, put it another way. Is there any other college hockey team which is
considered "public property" to the extent that Minnesota is?

Being a state school, being identified with the all-in-state policy, having
scholarships paid out of the public purse, having been a winner during much
of the past, and being a high profile team in the area, it figures that the
coach would also be under intense public scrutiny.

>> I can't think of any coach in the East that needs to put a winner on the
ice year after to year in order to maintain his contract.

As far as "there's a train leaving at 5:00, be under it" pressure in the
east, it is *no* fun to be a losing coach at RPI, BU, or Cornell. The up
side of course is that is a legacy of having had dominant teams and national
championships.
