Mankato State Selects Five Finalists For Director of Athletics Position
 
        Mankato, Minn. --- The administrative structure of MSU Athletics is going through a transition in the which the men's and women's athletic departments will merge.  In light of that fact, Mankato State University has announced that five candidates have been selected as finalists for the newly-created position of Director of Athletics.
        The five finalists, who will visit MSU as part of the selection process, are listed below in order of their visits.
 
Brad Kerr, Athletics Director, Jamestown (N.D.) College, May 21st.
Named the Director of Athletics at Jamestown (N.D.) College in 1993...Served as wrestling coach at the University of North Dakota from 1985-93.  Was the Sioux assistant wrestling coach from 1982-85...Earned undergraduate degree from University of North Dakota in 1978 and master's from UND in 1985.
 
Joseph Biedron, President/CEO Greater Las Cruses (N.M.) Chamber of Commerce, May 26th.
Has served as the President/Chief Executive Officer of the Las Cruces (N.M.) Chamber of Commerce since 1991...Worked as the Director of Athletics at Monmouth University (N.J.) from 1987-90, Executive Director of New Mexico State University Aggie Sports Foundation from 1983-87, Director of Sports Marketing, Tickets and Event Management at Cal. State, Fullerton from 1982-83, served as Director of Cal. State, Fullerton Titan Foundation in 1981, was an assistant A.D. at the University of Kansas from 1979-81 and also worked as athletic business manager at Fresno State and Wayne (Mich.) State...Graduated from Elmira College in 1974 and earned master's from Lehigh University in 1976.
 
Don Amiot, Men's Director of Athletics, Mankato State University, May 27th.
Has served as the Director of Men's Athletics at Mankato State University since 1988...Spent five years (1983-88) as the Director of Athletics at UW-Stevens Point prior to coming to Mankato State. Served as the Pointers' Athletic Business Manager from 1977-83 and was head cross country coach and track coach from 1971-77...Was the head football coach and instructor at Mayville State (N.D.) from 1967-71...Spent 1966-67 as an assistant football coach and intramural director at Valley City State (N.D.)...1963 Mayville State graduate, earned master's from South Dakota State in 1965.
 
Dr. Len Nardone, Genesee Community College, Batavia, N.Y., June 3rd.
Has served at Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics at Genesee Community College (SUNY) since 1997...Was the Associate Executive Director of USA Team Handball from 1995-97...Worked as Director of Athletics and Men's Basketball Coach at Sheldon Jackson College (Alaska) from 1988-95...Served as Director of Athletics at Philadelphia College of Textiles/Science from 1987-88 and was the Director of Athletics/men's basketball coach at Seattle (Wash.) University from 1981-86 and was the women's basketball coach and track and cross country coach at Rider (N.J.)  University from 1976-81...Earned undergraduate degree from Springfield (Mass.) College in 1969...Attained master's degree from Springfield in 1972 and doctoral degree from Temple University in 1986.
 
Dr. Rodger Jelicka, Athletics Director/Wrestling Coach, Adams State College (Colo.), June 5th.
Has served as the Adams State Director of Athletics since 1995...Has served as the wrestling coach at Adams State since 1982...Also was a member of the Adams State football coaching staff from 1982-87...Worked at Chadron (Neb.) State as the head wrestling coach and assistant football coach from 1980-82...Earned undergraduate degree from Winona State in 1969, attained master's from Winona State in 1976 and doctoral degree from University of New Mexico in 1997.
 
Open meetings to introduce the candidates will take place in MSU's Centennial Student Union at 5:30 p.m. of each candidates visit.
