Canisius Hockey to Honor Seniors

Canisius College will honor its three graduating hockey seniors, captain Ryan
Stewart (Niagara Falls, Ontario), assistant captain Josh Oort (St. Catharines,
Ontario) and assistant captain Lee Brochu (St. Catharines, Ontario), during its
annual hockey banquet at Morgan's Restaurant Friday night at 6 p.m.

Stewart, who recently finished his first professional hockey stint with the Tulsa
Oilers of the Central Hockey League, has been named the team's co-MVP. The
two-time recipient of the honor shares this year's award with Oort, who has been
named the team's best forward in addition to collecting Canisius top-scoring
honors for the third consecutive season.

The third-leading scorer in Canisius history with 172 points, Oort ranked third
in Division I hockey scoring this season with 47 points. He tallied a goal and
an assist in last weekend's Eastern Senior All-Star Game at the University of New
Hampshire. Stewart finished the year with 11 goals and 18 assists, placing him
14th on the school's all-time scoring chart with 131 points.

Brochu, who carries a 3.4 grade point average, will take home the Dr. David B.
Dietz Award for athletic and scholastic dedication. He registered eight goals and
eight assists this season.

Junior assistant captain Derek Gilham (Sarnia, Ontario), who tallied five goals
and 18 assists, has been named the team's best defenseman. Forward Ryan Puntiri
(Plymouth, Mass.) wins the Tom Chapman Memorial Award, given to Canisius hockey's
unsung hero. The sophomore tallied seven goals and nine assists.

Freshmen Todd Bisson (Welland, Ontario) and Matt Shewchuk (Herdman, Quebec) will
share the Rookie of the Year honors. Bisson collected 12 goals and 15 assists
while Shewchuk registered seven goals and four assists. Both players won ECAC
West Rookie of the Week Awards.
