That assumes that giving 1-4 a first round bye and a week's
rest is a plus. I don't think it is. Giving a team an extra week
to rest up may be beneficial to a team that is nursing a bunch of injured
players, but going into a tournament after being off for 2 weeks
sounds like a sure way for a team to lose its edge.
I would think that the 1-4 bye would be more of a disadvantage than
an advantage.
