I'll take Mike's invitation to comment. I'll start by saying that Denver
showed up
for the game and won. Minnesota showed up somewhere during the third period
and lost. This is regardless of how the game was ref'ed. Now to
philosophy...

A poorly ref'ed game could be one where calls are missed against one team.
It could also be one where calls are not made against either team, so it is
at
least "fairly" ref'ed. Without the benefit of seeing the Minnesota - Denver
game,
and only hearing it, the issue seemed to be a lack of calls against either
team.

The commentators complaint during the game was that the league had said
there would be an emphasis on interference calls and that emphasis was no
where to be seen. Further, they felt the refs where getting themselves into
trouble by not making some calls and that the game could get out of hand.
Certainly the game did get out of hand at the end. Was this the reason? It
could have been a contributor or irrelevant. I don't know, maybe the players
don't even know.

When fans look back on a game where refs made poor calls (or no calls) they
remember the "injustices" against their team, and probably not alot against
the
other team. The more injustice to your team the more the tendency to think
you
were robbed. The only thing I can say is put some marbles in your pockets
and
keep score on the refs. But if you can't see life from the other side of the

telescope than you won't be successful at that either.

Now back to hockey,
