At the Gutterson Fieldhouse, the University of Vermont defeated Brown 4 -
3. The scoring began at 1:48 of the first as Eric Perrin scored on the
power play unassisted. He took the face off to the right of Brown
goaltender Scott Stirling, tipped it forward, and backhanded a shot that
managed to find its way into the net. Brown came storming back with two
quick goals. At 3:06, Michael Flynn received a pass down low to the right
of Tim Thomas, and lifted it for a goal. Assists on the goal were from
Clapton, and Prescott. From almost the identical location, defenseman DJ
Harding blasted a shot past Thomas at 4:01, giving Brown a 2 - 1. UVM tied
it up at 13:03 on an unassisted goal from defenseman Jan Klobucek. He
intercepted a pass at the red line, and slid his way to the circle to the
right of Stirling and found the right corner of the net. Brown again
responded quickly, at 14:54 with Harding's second goal of the game. Brown
was on the power play, and following some nice passing, Harding on a feed
from Prescott and Flynn had an empty side of the net to tap the puck into.
Score after first period, Brown 3 - UVM 2.
The second period started with UVM killing off the remainder of a major
penalty to Eric Hallman for cross checking at 19:00 of the first period.
Rather even play followed, with each team taking a number of penalties. At
13:12, Stephane Piche tied the score with assists from Eric Perrin and
Martin St Louis. Score after two periods: Brown 3 - UVM 3.
The third period was tight checking, with lots of play in the center ice
area. At 10:14 Eric Lundin scored the game winner, tipping in a point shot
by Jon Sorg. Jan Kloboucek also assisted on the goal.
This brings UVM one game above 500 in the league, with a record of 4-3 in
the league, 12-5 overall.
