But that's an inference that you're making that USCHO didn't.  He has
indeed left BU "for personal reasons."  That much is fact.  Whether he
plans on coming back is still very much up in the air.  And according to
BU, he will be eligible to play next semester if he re-enrolls as a
full-time student.
 
In Lacouture's case, he is aided by BU's policy for all students regarding
incompletes.  They have a year to complete the coursework and get the "I"
changed to a real grade.  This means that if Lacouture took incompletes
(and I can't imagine what else could have happened), he has until next
fall to deal with that.  At some schools it is more like 6-8 weeks, in
which case a student-athlete in Lacouture's situation would have more
problems on his hands.
