The St. Lawrence campus was "active" after the loss to Princeton a week+
ago - with a couple of related incidents involving hockey players. Lots
of rumors have swirled on what actually took place, but it appears
definite that
(a) Soph Derek Ladoceur got into an altercation outside a local
night spot. Most versions report that he was fairly severly
beaten by several other students. There was some question as
to whether he would play in last weekend's games at Harvard
and Brown. He did play.
(b) Junior Joel Prpic was suspended from school for a week. Apparently
this was due to actions while a group of hockey players were
headed to a local frat to seek retribution. He missed both
games last weekend. I haven't heard yet whether he will be
back for this weekend's games, but I believe that the suspension
was for just one week.
I have also heard that SLU Coach Joe Marsh met with some players in the
wee hours that morning, the Dean of Students met with the frat, and
SLU's senior captains (Murphy, Kungle, Dashney) helped to diffuse the
situation. Not a very pretty incident from any account.
