A curious question...
 
Over the holidays, Maine will be traveling throughout Canada, playing six
exhibition matches against Canadian schools (British Columbia (2),
Calgary(2), Concordia, and Ottawa).
 
These games are in addition to the Penney's Classic, where they play one
non-conference game (Union, methinks), and one exhibition against a team
from the World Junior tournament.
 
My question is: what (if any) are the NCAA rules regarding the total number
of games, exhbition or otherwise, that a team is allowed to play during its
regular season?
 
I know that with other NCAA sports there are strict limitations regarding
the total number of games played (exhibition plus regular), total number of
exhibition games, and total number of in-season games. Additionally, many
other NCAA sports are restricted as to their practice time and schedule
(e.g., basketball teams cannot have a single practice until Midnight
Madness).
 
What are the regulations regarding college hockey? It would seem unfair if
a team with "money & fame" can use its resources to schedule a number of
games as "practice," while other teams with limited budgets and lesser
notoreity remain at home, practicing intra-squad as usual.
 
note: I'm not flaming Maine, their holiday schedule just made me curious...
