        I don't either, but I'm wondering if Middlebury would have allowed
*themselves* to go even if they had been tabbed by the NCAA Selection
Committee (Did they even call themselves that in those days? I kind of doubt
it.) Anyway, the reason I'm bringing this up is a vague recollection I have
of a Hamilton College team of a few years back -- I don't remember what
sport, but I'm guessing basketball --  that qualified for a post-season
tournament but didn't go: either the league's by-laws or the school's forbade
them from participating in any sort of post-season play. I can't help but
wonder if Middlebury -- weak schedule aside -- might have been affected by
such a rule in '60-61.
