My son’s a student at DU, they do refer to themselves as the Pio’s.

Its an anouncer thing. Made me cringe. And disrespectful to Denver, IMO. I went to U. of Missouri at Columbia for undergraduate. I will always bleed black and gold. Within the last year or two announcers have been calling it CoMo and it makes me crazy. There is nobody who says CoMo in the State, and probably not nationwide - its an anouncer thing trying to be cute. I hope BC doesn't become the "Eegs"
"Pios" has been around for a while. A three-sylable word like "pioneers" seems to be a stretch for the announcers. Somewhat overdone for this game. From the DU perspective, I thought the announcers were attempting to be fair but tilted a bit toward BU. I don't like the inference that the referees should even up the number of penalties called on both sides. If they "did" it, call it.
